We've already stated our belief that that 2007 will see Americans buying several hundred thousand less cars than they will purchase in 2006. We are looking for 16.8 million vehicle sales this year. Let's get into the numbers, and see what the implications are. When you, or I buy a car for our personal use, we pay on average about $25,000 per car. The car rental companies in the United States purchase more cars than any other group.

They buy American cars, and pay an average of $15,000 per car. We don't see any big profits from this market segment.

Let's look at the dealerships, and sort out how the Japanese do against the Americans. A Chrysler dealer last year on average sold about 225 cars. If you were a Ford dealer, you averaged almost 700 cars per dealer. GM's Chevrolet dealerships came in under 650 cars per dealer.

Would you be surprised to learn that Toyota sold more than 1600 cars per dealership last year? General Motors & Ford-It?s the cars ?Stupid? part II

Research on the Road to Intelligent Cars

(ContentDesk) March 10, 2006 -- Although safety is improving on European roads, every year over 40,000 people die on Europe's roads and 1.4 million accidents occur. Clearly, there is still plenty of work to be done if the EU is to halve road fatalities by 2010, a target fixed in September 2001.Although safety is improving on European roads, every year over 40,000 people die on Europe's roads and 1.4 million accidents occur. Clearly, there is still plenty of work to be done if the EU is to halve road fatalities to under 25 000 by 2010, a target fixed in September 2001.Although intelligent ICT-based systems already exist, their market take-up has been very slow. Reasons for this include legal and institutional barriers, competition among car-makers, the relatively high cost of intelligent systems, lack of customer demand, and above all a general lack of information on and awareness of the potential benefits of such systems. Partly to counter this, the PReVENT integrated project is devoting...

Tall Magazine Rates New Cars and Trucks By Available Driver's Space, not Available Horsepower

Tall, the only consumer magazine targeting the needs of men over 6'2" and women over 5'9", moves into 2005 with a comprehensive look at which of the newly released batch of cars and trucks can be deemed "tall-friendly." ???? The Tall staff ? ranging in height from 6'2" to 6'11" ? spent a full day at the November 2004 San Francisco International Auto Show inspecting every model on the floor.???? Unlike other new car reports, the Tall staff looked at aspects of the car overlooked by consumer guides, marketing specialists, and dealers ? but not by a discerning public. "How fast a car can go in 60 seconds, an engine's torque, its braking speed, how many speakers come standard; we ignored all that," said Tall publisher Everard Strong, who stands 6'9". "Instead, we went after the three variables that matter most to members of the tall community: legroom, headroom, and visibility."???? The report also rated the passenger's available space, and an overall grade was given for how everything came...

Sports Cars

Stylish, sexy, sleek, streamlined, spirited and speed demon are all words used to describe sports cars, which are essentially two-door automobiles that are designed for high speeds, great power and smashing good looks. The manufacture of the modern-day sports car began only after 1945, when the economy started booming, technology developed dramatically and better roads were being built. They came in various shapes like convertibles, roadsters, coupes, grand tourers and sedans. Sports-car lovers are either devoted to timeless classics that have been souped up for current times, or are trendsetters looking for the latest kind of exotic car.

From powerful purring beauties like the Mercedes Benz SLK 350 to thundering thrillers like the Ford Mustang V-8, you can choose a sports car that matches your personality.

In fact, sports cars are as much about personality as they are about performance ? smooth aerodynamic bodies of carbon fiber, chrome pipes and fittings, rich...

It?s Not Your Father?s Climbing Frame!

When I was growing up, the metal jungle gym in our backyard made ours the most popular play spot in the neighbourhood. Built of tubular steel in bright orange and yellow, it was a honeycombed hexagon that provided days of climbing, swinging and acrobatic fun. These days, the jungle gym is called a climbing frame, and it may be made of wood, metal or plastic, but the fun factor remains the same. If you have young children, a climbing frame in the...

30 ? 90 Minutes Per Day? No Sweat!

Thirty to ninety minutes of exercise every day, just to meet the new Federal guidelines? Who has time for that?"?That's as simple as it can be. However, the lifestyle habits of most Americans are in conflict with plain common sense when it comes to health and fitness. For many it seems to be a choice of success or health....
