Market Shifts to Small, Flashy and Sensible Cars

Automakers have earlier placed their 2007 aces on display at the South Florida International Auto Show. Regardless of the booming complaints about high gasoline prices, fuel-saver vehicles were outshined by fast, sensible yet costly gas-guzzlers at the Miami Beach Convention Center. This shift reflects what American enthusiasts really wanted in a vehicle.

Said auto show is flocked by luxury and sports vehicles from BMW, Lexus, Dodge, Hummer, Mercedes-Benz and other auto giants. Dodge Viper and Chevrolet Corvettes also made a big draw. Aficionados lined up to take a glimpse of the recent ground-breaking cars.

Dealers, on the other hand, set up cameras so take photos of high-end sports cars.

Several Miami Beach residents were eyeing all-new Lexus LS460 which is priced at $64,000. On one hand, other fanatics were fascinated by Chevrolet's fuel-saving vehicles that use either gasoline or a mixture of gas and ethanol.

"People don't come to the show to see fuel-efficient cars. They come here to see the flashy cars. New at this year's show was the clutch of E85 flexible fuel SUVs and light trucks at the Chevrolet stand, offering estimated city mileage starting about 15 miles per gallon and 21 mpg on highways," says Terry McCabe, owner of a diesel-powered Volkswagen Beetle.

Chevrolet flaunted its Aveo, a compact station wagon priced at $14,000.

It has a rating of 27/37 mpg in city/highways. Chevy also displayed its Camaro concept vehicle. The latter is a streamline version of a muscle car in the 1960s.

Hybrids from Toyota, Ford and Honda were also presented to the audience. These hybrids run on an electric motor and a gasoline-powered engine.

They are priced from upward of $20,000 to more than $42,000.

Toyota, Honda and Nissan also displayed their cars that run on gasoline engines. Toyota Yaris, Honda Fit and Nissan Versa, also dragged the crowd closer. Luxurious cars like Porsche Turbo Coupe and BMW 760Li were also deemed stunners of the show. The former is priced at $147,000, while the latter is made cheaper at $132,000.

Are Hybrid Cars the Solution to Rising Gas Prices?

(ContentDesk) September 23, 2005 -- "Consumers are buying hybrid cars," reports NBC news correspondent, Anne Thompson. "Some because of high gas prices, others because hybrids are kinder to the environment. Either way, Americans are getting into hybrids."With gas prices setting all-time records and rapidly approaching $3/gallon in many US cities, motorists are outraged and looking for some relief. Though reluctant to embrace hybrid cars because of their higher price and relative short time on the market, these new breed of autos may be the best solution to the surging gas prices dilemma. However, are they all they are proposed to be? Are they getting better mileage than conventional cars? How do they work and do they need to be recharged? These and many other questions are still on the minds of those who are hesitant to take the plunge and venture into territory unknown.Andy Grant and Taylor Reid, authors of the eBook, All About Hybrid Cars: Maximum Performance/Minimum Impact, saw the...

Radio Control Cars - Which Type Is Right for You or Your Child?

There are several factors to consider before choosing which type of radio control cars to buy. Don't just jump in head first. Making the correct choices, up front, can save you a lot of time and money down the road. Take a few minutes to read this helpful article so you can start out in the right direction. First, it is important to determine who will be the primary user of the cars.

This will help ensure that you don't start off with a car that is far beyond the child's ability to operate. Choosing the right starter radio control car can often mean the difference between building a long-lasting family hobby, or having one more piece of plastic ending up in the toy box. If the intended user is a young child, say under 13, then you might be better off purchasing the relatively inexpensive mini radio control cars that run on batteries. Not only are they inexpensive (often selling for under $20), but they are safe to operate in that they use no flamable gas and they include a low-voltage...
